Marco Ciglia is a European-based First Assistant Director with 30 years of experience in features, high-end television, and commercials. He has managed major Emmy award-winning productions, including Game of Thrones, The Wheel of Time, and Carnival Row, demonstrating expertise in guiding complex, large scale $150MM+ projects to successful completion.
Marco consistently delivers projects on schedule, aligning to the creative vision and priorities. His extensive pre-production experience ensures robust, accurate schedules and meticulous planning.
Specializing in the fantasy and action genre on large-scale productions, Marco excels at the planning of major action sequences, coordinating the Stunt, SFX, Creature FX, and VFX teams ensuring seamless integration between departments.
Marco maintains a calm, focused set, fostering professionalism and mutual respect. He drives teams forward with a positive momentum and a shared sense of purpose, always remaining composed under pressure. Through clear communication and confident leadership Marco builds cohesive teams that work effectively across departments.
Marco delivers robust health and safety oversight, holding both DGA and UK safety certifications. He proactively implements current best practices, creating a safe working environment on every set.
Marco is highly skilled in managing the challenges of international film production, effectively communicating with large, multilingual teams. He has filmed across Europe, including Hungary, UK, Czech Republic, Serbia, Italy, Greece, Spain, and many more.
In his spare time, Marco leads a fitness-focused lifestyle, enjoying running, cross-fit, and Chinese martial arts. He values family life, dividing his time between several European cities, and pursues interests in philosophy, chess and horology. A passionate film enthusiast, he also enjoys sharing espresso with friends.
